In-House Facilities
The LCO-France Centre is a restoration of a 150 year old former Auberge of around 3,250 sq ft of living space. Historically, it ranks among the oldest of the buildings in the village. We have endeavoured to retain much of its original charm, while discreetly modernising to suit its new purpose. Heated in the chilly months and cool during the summer. Guest rooms are spacious and comfortable although modestly basic. Bathroom facilities are up-to-date.

The GNU/Linux laboratory workshop allows for hands-on development, with machines available for complete re-installation, others already networked using various cutting edge technologies, and the entire infrastructure is connected to the wider world by broadband satellite access.
Ready for lunchFor those who may be accompanying a workshop participant, there are un-restricted cybercafe facilities and games machines. In keeping with the communal nature of the Centre, and if they so wish, guests may volunteer to help with the day to day running of the Centre.

The centre grows some of its own food, making up the remainder from local produce so everything is always fresh and flavourful. Vegetarian or other special menus can be provided by prior arrangement. Visitors are welcome to accompany staff on shopping trips to the local market towns.

Chapelle Ste Elidie

Auvergne is an area of outstanding unspoilt beauty, and Linux Coaching Organisation is centrally situated in a small village at the heart of the Livradois-Forez Natural Park, in a sheltered valley, where, at 850 meters above sea level, the air is clear and bracing..

Just 5-10 minutes walk in any direction will find you in idyllic tracts of densely wooded forests, criss-crossed by natural walking tracks, ideal for relaxation, searching for woodland strawberries or wild mushrooms or simply escaping the pressures of city life.

Its perfect for healthy outdoor activities such as rambling, cycling or horseriding. There are nearby villages to visit, many with historic 11th to 13th century chapels and churches.

Local town markets held on different days of the week offer an opportunity to enjoy a french flavour of shopping and a chance to sample Auvergne's specialities.
